Does anybody have any regrets from High School? Anything you wish you would have done but ya blew it? I don't have too many regrets but I wish I played football for all four years of High School. I stopped because we had an awful coach and then he got fired but I still didn't join. I didn't get to know the new coach until my senior year when I was in a couple of his classes and hearing all of his football stories from him and my friends really made me regret not going out. Besides that I'm not sure what else, Ig I regretted dating some girls. But I suppose it was good experience. My senior year still ended pretty good so I didn't feel like there was too much to complain about. But any of you younger kids need to take advantage of things even if they seem iffy. So what about you guys? |

Giving my coach a hard time. We were super close but I was a brat. I regret not dating miss pageant queen and Pom squad leader. Her reputation and surname could have really helped my current board campaign, if we were still together to this day. She liked me so much... I don't know what I was thinking or seeing in that other girl. And I'll always beat myself up about training harder. Edited by Professor Gohan, Aug 7 2016, 04:16 AM.

I had no luck with girls until the very end of high school because my class was so small and I honestly didn't care about it whatsoever. I really only put the effort in if I was drunk enough and they were flirty. This was one of the things I regret the most. It felt hollow and almost misogynistic. But anyway, my story... There were only 90-some kids in my graduating class in 2012. I was one of the more out-there people but by no means unliked. In fact, because it was a small school, and I acted like I was f***ing mental the entire time I was there (in a witty way... you'd have to have seen it, tbh), almost everyone in the school knew my name and liked me. My house was the center of attention for a ton of kids, I really enjoyed especially my Junior and Senior years. But 9th and 10th grade I struggled for an identity (I still had good friends), and by 11th and 12th grade I was constantly going places. Having people over. One of my biggest regrets was one of the things I liked doing the most: just not going. I had really bad problems with falling asleep, anxiety, sleeping in general. I think I just couldn't focus enough to fall asleep. I mostly blame it on myself, but, I still haven't shaken that habit. I'd wake up for school feeling like the undead and just come up with some lameass excuse as to why I couldn't go once a week or once every two weeks. Then I'd actually miss ~10-15 days each year because I always seemed to get the flu pretty seriously, or asthma related illnesses . I regret doing that. Mostly because I miss the sense of unity, knowing everyone and them knowing you. Having a big circle of close friends; college was a different ball game. We had more of our own lives to live, and I wasn't there long enough. The bad outweighed the good there. I haven't experienced the same kind of unity at work either. High school sucked 95% of the time but the 5% was some of the greatest times in my life. |

Well I don't live in town and our school wasn't in town either. It was a school consolidated from three different towns. My address town has a population of 306. That's Nebraska country schools for ya! Edit: Our High School had about 200 some kids. Edited by Son-Goku, Aug 7 2016, 04:58 AM.

Does Junior High count? If so, I regret not sticking up for myself in the first bit of the year. I let people step all over me and I really think that I shouldn't have let that happen. It got me into a lot of trouble, mostly with girls, because they wanted the popular guy and that popular guy happened to like ME... So of course they took it out on me. Also, during the second half, I became extremely bitter and angry due to the girls tormenting and bullying me. Even in my school photo I look pissed off, which is a rare thing for me, especially in photographs. You can see that I was hurting, going through SOMETHING, because that was so unlike me that it hurts me to look at that very picture and remember what one guy in high school caused me... And how he left me behind all because I didn't like him back. Oh and now that I remember... I regret punching that wall. It's left me with a scar, a reminder that makes me think of my promise: Never self harm again. It did absolutely nothing proactive for me and I wish I wasn't another one of those teens who got pushed to their limits, crying in bed with a bloody fist. |

I wish I had done better grade-wise. I did OK (above average), but I coasted majorly. It's not like my grades are holding me back at all, but I guess just personally trying harder would have made me feel a bit better about myself. Also, I wasn't bullied, but there were times that I think back to where I probably could have stood up for myself a little more (although again, it's not a major regret). But like Buuberries said, I try not to regret things too much. The only thing regret is good for is learning from mistakes, no point dwelling on things that have already happened since it's impossible to change. Just gotta try and work towards a point in your life where you're happy so you can say that whatever happened in your life lead you to that point. |

"Then you've got the chance to do better next time." "Next time?" "Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is." | |

Where to begin? Not being active enough in sports. Going out with the wrong girl for way too long when in hindsight I know someone better was interested in me. Not attending tutorials any more after my first two years. Not working hard enough for my GCSEs and A levels. Not taking music lessons. Not taking electronics as a GCSE. |

Just finished the Dutch equivalent of High School. There's a still a lot of differences though compared to UK and US. Regrets: -Should never have attempted gymnasium (Highest level education + Latin & Greek), cost me a year of my life -Should've looked for a job earlier while in high school. It's way too tough to find one now without experience. -Should've started way earlier with going out with friends. Thought it'd be nothing for an introverted person such as myself, but it turned out to be more fun than I could ever imagine. -As good as my French is now, taking German would've been way easier. -Didn't take computer sciences, which I feel like will bite me in the a*** later in life. Still though, the list of decisions that I don't regret is longer. But then again, mistakes are life lessons, and like Buubs said I wouldn't be the person I am today without those mistakes. |
